PEMBROKE SHIRE COAST PATH
ST. DOGMAELS TO NEWPORT (PARROG)
`15.5 miles (25.5km)
This first section of the coast path is very taxing, as some of the highest cliffs are encountered here, resulting in the walkers climbing more than 3,000 feet before reaching Newport.
The scenery is wild and beautiful, and particularly interesting to Geologists.
From Cemaes Head it is possible to see down the coast to Strumble Lighthouse, below Fishguard. Its flashing light is well visible on a good day. The cliffs of Cemaes Head are beautiful, as are the folds in the rocks at Ceibwr Bay

Newport Sands, a large stretch of sand stretching down to Parrog, the old port serving Newport. |

These sands can be treacherous at low tide. Many motorists have driven onto the sand and been trapped by quick sands. |
